The week beginning 30 January 2012, the Commission held public hearings about the following individual buildings whose failure resulted in loss of life:

  • 32 Cathedral Square;
  • 309 Durham Street North;
  • 603 and 605-613 Colombo Street; and
  • 200-204 Manchester Street.

603 Colombo Street was a  two storey row  unreinforced masonry heritage building at the end of the row on the north-west corner of Colombo and Mollett Streets. 605-613 Colombo Street was the middle portion of a two storey row unreinforced masonry heritage building situated on the west side of Colombo Street, between Mollett Street and Tuam Street.
