Summary

The Commission has received a report written by Associate Professor Rajesh Dhakal of the University of Canterbury, dated August 2011. The report, which was offered to the Commission, provides an indepth discussion of the way in which the current approach to seismic design has developed, and how this may change in the future.

It is particularly relevant to Issues 3(a) and 4 of the issues identified by the Commission in calling for expressions of interest in the inquiry, and will be considered by the Commission in that context.
