Quakes Royal Commission Delivers First Part of Final Report

As required by its terms of reference, the Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission has delivered the first part of its final report to the Governor-General today.

The terms of reference allow a staged approach to delivery of the final report. The first part of the report contains recommendations to inform early decision-making about the central city's recovery from the Canterbury earthquakes.

The Governor-General will provide the report to the Government. It is the Government’s decision as to how and when the report is released.

When this first part of the final report is publicly released by the Government, it will be available on the Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission website www.canterbury.royalcommission.govt.nz

The rest of the Commission's final report will be delivered no later than 12 November 2012.
